This five string frettless bass is one of my most recent instruments. It features a Curly Walnut and Purpleheart neck through the body and Curly Walnut and Macasser Ebony body halves with a Purpleheart lamination in between. The bass was fitted with a Hybrid Poly-mag pickup after these photos were shot, and has some of the best electronics I've built to date. The Ebony bridge is a 'floating' archtop guitar style, and has two split film polymer pickups compressed under it. A tone control pans between the bass & treble pickups, and offers a very sweet & natural eq emphasis from one side to the other. A second control blends this result with the Hybrid Poly-mag pickup, and passes this result to a master volume and high frequency tone control.
